These views are not shared by the tens of millions of Catholics who welcome gays and lesbians in their parishes. For instance, participants at this year’s Ottawa Pride Parade will meet for a reception at St. Joseph’s Parish after the march. To quote their words: “there is a place for everybody at Christ’s table.”

No, actually, that’s not true. There are people who don’t belong and are thrown out. Don’t let the Holy Scriptures get in the way of your gay religion, though.
Don’t kid yourself into believing that perverting the sacred act between a man and a woman in marriage has no consequences to your immortal soul. It does. Repent and turn your heart back to God.
You can turn your heart back to God when you open your heart to His creation.
What precisely are you suggesting as a realistic and tenable solution for gay Catholics who would like to remain active in their parish? Should they repress their sexuality–an integral element of who we all are as humans? Should gay Catholics pretend to be “cured” and then marry someone they may not be attracted to sexually, simply to satisfy people and the community around them? Should they live a life of loneliness, while watching from the outside how their friends and other parishioners around them live in loving relationships, raise children, see their kids grow up, grow old with grandchildren and a large supportive family around them? The gay, single Catholic will always be an outsider, suffering alone and in silence, going home after work to an empty house, living on the edge of a community and society built around relationships and structures that he/she can never have.
A realistic and tenable solution? Abstain. Just like all Catholics are to abstain from disordered appetitites.
What makes gays any different from straight couples who must also abstain, for a variety of reasons?
Suffering has meaning and is redemptive.
