I wish to express my deep concern about the conduct of the Ottawa Police. Until recently, the Pro-Life movement in Ottawa has had generally good relations with the City police outside of Morgentaler’s abortion mill.

However, with the recent conduct of two of your officers against two pro-life activists, Cyril Winter and Donald Bruneau, there is some serious cause for concern.
May I remind you, sir, that the authority given to any law enforcement is predicated on a full respect for the law and the legitimate rights of its citizens – even those citizens whose views may or may not be in the minority.

The officers under your supervision do not have any authority to act as they did. I trust that this sort of illegal and intimidating treatment of citizens of Ottawa by the City Police will not continue in the future, and that the good reputation of the City police may once again be recovered.
