May 23, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Catholic Charities USA [CCUSA] is a dues-paying member of an organization that advocates for public funding of abortion providers and of abortifacient contraceptives.

The Coalition on Human Needs [CHN] fought against cutting federal funding of Planned Parenthood and Title X family planning in 2011.

Further, Lucreda Cobbs, CCUSA’s senior director of policy and legislative affairs, sits on CHN’s board as a representative for CCUSA. (Source)

These stories are so common they’re almost not worth reporting. Kinda like a dog-bites-man story. Remember that last month we learned this:

Last month, LifeSiteNews.com reported that Planned Parenthood lobbyist Alisa LaPolt Snow served on the board of a Catholic Charities group in Florida before defending infanticide in the state legislature.

How sick it that? A Planned Parenthood rep influencing how a Catholic charity is run?

Like Development and Peace, a lot of “Catholic” charities around the world are out of control. So many still do not comply with Pope Benedict’s orders that “The Church’s charitable activity at all levels” must be “managed in conformity with the demands of the Church’s teaching and the intentions of the faithful”, and that “We must exercise a critical vigilance and at times refuse funding and collaborations that, directly or indirectly, favour actions or projects that are at odds with Christian anthropology.”

Bishops need to be more aggressive in fixing.

Homosexual men who have not had sex with other men for five years are now eligible to donate blood to the Canadian Blood Services (CBS).

The organization revealed yesterday that it has received approval from Health Canada to exchange a lifetime ban on homosexuals donating blood for a deferral system. (Source)

I’m not too thrilled about this development. The lifetime ban was the most reasonable approach to ensure a safe blood supply. Once again, sound science is being cast aside to make homosexuals feel good about themselves. This is 100% political and 0% scientific.

Homosexual groups are still not happy, though. They wanted to restrictions whatsoever on blood donations. This prompted a Health Canada official to state the obvious health risks of homosexual behaviour:

“Approximately half of new HIV cases in Canada are MSM [men having sex with men]. Seventy-five per cent of the males who are newly diagnosed with HIV are MSM”, said Health Canada’s Robert Cushman to Xtra yesterday. “This is a risk behaviour, not a sexual orientation policy”.

Cushman said that research shows that even men in a committed MSM relationship who use condoms present a greater risk of disease than promiscuous heterosexuals who engage in anal or vaginal sex without using condoms.

“MSM is a risky behaviour”, he stated. “There’s anatomical reasons. There’s a scientific explanation”.

“I think it would be remiss on our part not to concentrate on the two risk factors [MSM and injection drug users] that have the lion’s share of the burden of illness in the blood supply”, he said. “It would be equally unfair [to the public] to make this blood available [without a deferral] knowing what we do about the risk factors”. (Source)

It’s nice to hear them say it, but the new policy doesn’t jibe with the words that came out of his mouth. If the lifestyle is so risky, why not keep the lifetime ban? Based on the policy, you’d think that HIV fades from an infected person after 5 years, which is obviously not true.

Health Canada also reminded everybody that no test is 100% accurate. Remember why homosexuals were banned from giving blood in the first place:

Canadian Red Cross had put the ban in place in 1983 after thousands of Canadians were infected with HIV and hepatitis C from contaminated blood. Criminal charges were laid against several doctors, blood products companies, and the Canadian Red Cross.

Looks like we’re headed back for another outbreak in five years. Who’s gonna console the family members of future people infected throug blood transfusions? No sacrifice appears to great to make an unhealthy lifestyle seem normal.

Last week, Pope Francis clicked on the button to launch a new app called Missio, available for both Apple and Android devices.

I downloaded it on my iPhone. It’s a very simple app that provides the latest news about the Church directly from the Vatican’s news services. It including videos of papal speeches, homilies and audiences.

This is a great idea by the Vatican. In an age when the media is very hostile to the Church and often tries to distort Her message, the Vatican is now going to bypass them entirely and reach the faithful directly, uncensored and unaltered.

To paraphrase Karl Marx, the mainstream media may have sown the seeds of their own destruction, as their bias has fuelled the emergence of growing Internet news services that could make the “old” media as obsolete as rotary phones and 8-tracks.

The Toronto trustees are preparing to vote on a motion tomorrow to replace the government-mandated Gay-Straight Alliances with the Archdiocese’s Catholic alternative called Respecting Differences. That’s great news. But the Chair of the Board, Ann Andrachuk, almost hijacked the democratic process by unilaterally removing the vote from the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting. 

Fortunately, the trustees didn’t take it lying down and came out swinging at the Chair. They forced her to reinstate the vote in the agenda for tomorrow. They didn’t mince words either.

“I do really think that you’ve overstepped your authority and in doing so it’s sort of like a dictatorship,” said Rizzo, while also emphasizing that she does not support Tanuan’s motion.

“We’ve had notices of motions for ever and ever and ever.  I have never heard you say, I’m going to pull this because I don’t like what it says,” Rizzo added. “We’re smart people, we can figure it out. … You are not our mommy and I really resent that you are treating us in this way.” (Source)

Keep in mind that trustees are elected by the general population during municipal elections. The foundations of democracy were almost usurped. Chair Andrachuk also had the nerve to tell the trustees not to tweet her repressive statements to the outside world. Hush hush.

Why are these dictator-wannabe’s allowed to stay employed in the school board? They should be throw out on their ear.
