Lifesite wrote about Cardinal Turcotte making remarks about abortion that are contrary to Catholic teaching and mentions an article appearing in Le Journal de Montreal, claiming Cardinal Turcotte says he refuses the “pro-life” label.

Yet Turcotte returns his Order of Canada when Morgentaler is awarded one.

When interviewed about returning his Order of Canada CBC quotes Turcotte as saying “I’m worried about how we treat life, from conception to death, “…”I decided to take a stance that clearly reflects my convictions.”

In an unrelated Lifesite article the Cardinal contradicted the pope on condoms.

Anti life or pro life, I wish he’d make up his mind.

The Quebec bishops need to get their heads screwed on right. They should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Do they not realise that human life begins at the moment of conception? How hard is it from there to arrive at the understanding that abortion, the killing of babies, is a grave sin? I guess they’re just not the sharpest tools in the shed.
