A great and truly humble man.

Please pray for this saintly man.   I’m reading that his health is rapidly deteriorating.

I predict sainthood in the future.  Santo subito.

Isn’t it a given that popes make saints? I would be surprised if any of them didn’t.

  2. Paycheck says:

Popes don’t “make” saints. Popes only ratify and recognize what is already the reality concering that person’s holy life.

  3. southern quebec says:

I wasn’t clear. Sorry. I meant that all popes become saints.

  4. Paycheck says:

No, because only those Popes who have risen to that level of sanctity are recognized as saints.

In the Catholic Church, power does not mean sanctity.

That’s the problem with modernity, it confuses dignity and sanctity with things like sameness and power – hence the hangup with women “priests”.

People confuse TRUE power which comes from God and is open to the most brilliant person to the most simple with “legal” power which is what people see in the machinations of Church politics. They are two very different things.

In the end, the power that feminists seek today fades away, but sanctity lasts forever.
